Toxins in the News

Search the following databases for news articles.

Search tips:

  • Use a specific toxin name and the term bioremediation or remediation.
  • Consider specific instances of toxins, such as the Flint, Michigan water crisis.
  • Consider using non-technical names for toxins because news articles are more likely to use terms the general public can understand. For example, rather than searching petroleum hydrocarbons, search oil spill.

Sample searches:

  • lead bioremediation
  • lead remediation
  • Flint lead remediation
  • LexisNexis Academic
Indexes articles in news, business, legal, medical, and reference information. Some full text articles available online.
  • Newspaper Source Plus (EBSCO)

The database contains comprehensive full text for major newspapers such as The New York Times (from January 1985 to present), Christian Science Monitor, San Francisco Chronicle, The Sydney Morning Herald (Australia), The Times (UK), Toronto Star, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Washington Times (DC) and others.
