National Domestic Violence Hotline

The National Domestic Violence Hotline -- 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) or 1-800-787-3224 (TTY) --receives more than 23,500 calls each month from victims, survivors, friends and family members, law enforcement personnel, domestic violence advocates and the general public. Hotline advocates "provide support and assistance to anyone involved in a domestic violence situation, including those in same-sex relationships, male survivors, those with disabilities and immigrant victims of domestic violence.  All calls to the National Domestic Violence Hotline are anonymous and confidential."

Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV)

The Iowa Coalition Against Domestic Violence (ICADV) is a state-level nonprofit organization composed of "people dealing with the concerns of battered women and their families.  They represent both rural and urban areas.  Their programs support and involve battered women of all racial, social, religious, and economic groups, ages, and lifestyles.  They oppose the use of violence as a means of control over others and support equality in relationships and the concept of helping women assume power over their own lives."  ICADV staff members provide training, counseling, community outreach, program management and technical support for the community, professionals, and coalition members.  The Iowa Domestic Violence Hotline -- 1-800-770-1650 -- is available 365/24/7 and is operated by Certified Domestic Violence Advocates who provide crisis support, answer questions, and provide resource referrals.

Children and Families of Iowa

Children and Families of Iowa (CFI) provides domestic violence services to help victims rebuild their lives.  CFI offers information about safe shelters, safety planning for adults and children, resource referrals and assistance, medical and legal advocacy, as well as individual, family, and group counseling. Children & Families of Iowa operates the Iowa Domestic Violence Hotline -- 1-800-942-0333 -- a toll-free service for victims, loved ones and community members. Certified Domestic Violence Advocates are available to provide crisis support, help victims find safe solutions across the state, answer questions and provide resource referrals.
