Why Books?

Why Books?

Students aren't always allowed to use sources such as Wikipedia and encyclopedias for their assignments, yet they need to get general information on their topic.

Books are great resources to learn general information about a topic and more in depth, if necessary.

How Do You Use Books?

How Do You Use Books?

Part of the reason, students shy away from using books is because they can't devote a lot of time to reading long books on a topic.  There are a few ways to still use books and save time:

Print (Physical Books You Can Hold):

  • Use the Table of Contents to identify single chapters that can be read instead of the entire book
  • Use the Index to identify keywords that match the topic, and read just those pages that discuss the keywords

Electronic Books:

  • Search within the entire text of the book. Read only the pages, sections, or chapters that discuss the topic.
