Locate Books in the Library

This guide introduces you to locating materials in the library by call number. Need help finding a library book or other resource? Stop by a service desk for help!

What are call numbers?

A call number is a group of letters and numbers indicating the location of a book in the library.

Think of the call number as the book's address.

How to locate books using call numbers

Library of Congress
Most items in the library are organized using Library of Congress. Select this option if your call number starts with UNI Stacks, UNI Video, UNI Reference, or UNI Fine and Performing Arts.

Dewey Decimal: Youth Materials
Youth materials (i.e. picture books, board books, YA literature) are arranged in Dewey Decimal. Select this option if your call number starts with UNI Youth or UNI IRTS.

SuDoc: Governement Documents
Government documents are located in the bottom floor of the library and are organized by SuDoc. Select this option if your call number starts with UNI Documents.
