People with Disabilities in Film: Searching Rod Library

Catalog Searching

If you learn the titles of films not on these lists, please use the Books/Media tab of OneSearch! located on the Rod Library Web page to learn if we do own them.  

To search for additional films portraying individuals who have disabilities, access Books/Media tab of OneSearch! located on the Rod Library Web page, enter your search term, then, from the left-hand column of the results screen, choose the Source Type of Video.  

Kanopy Video Service

Accessible through Databases A-Z

Rod Library subscribes to the Kanopy on-demand web-based digital video delivery service that provides access to over  26,000 videos, including documentaries, theatrical and independent releases, international films, television shows, and training films.  Titles are arranged in browsable subject and thematic collections. You may specify a genre or country of origin, search for a known title, and track a particular filmmaker.  A keyword search using "disability" or specific disabilities will lead you to films. 

Some of the Documentaries and Feature Films listed as being owned by Rod Library are also available through Kanopy.  Use the Books/Media tab of OneSearch! located on the Rod Library Web page  to search by film title to see whether the film is available through "San Francisco, California, USA : Kanopy Streaming," click on the Find Online icon, then the  Full text available at: Kanopy (Streaming Video) link  to access the film.
