Syllabi, Assignments, & Library Sessions

Syllabi and Assignment Design

Rod Library encourages you to add information about Rod Library and your liaison librarian to your syllabus. We strongly encourage including your liaison librarian's name and contact information in your syllabus. Please check in with your liaison about any particular library services you would like to require or strongly encourage your students to use.

Assignment Design

We are here to support you as you (re)design your assignments and courses! Contact your liaison librarian for assistance with:

  • Research assignment design
  • Learning outcomes related to the use and evaluation of information
  • Assessment of those learning outcomes

Library Resources to Support Your Online Teaching

We are here to support you as you consider resources to support teaching and learning! Contact your collection strategist librarian for assistance with:

  • Replacing or supplementing physical resources with online resources
  • Reviewing assignments to ensure they can be completed with online resources
  • Identifying Open Educational Resources

Library Instruction Session(s)

Librarians can be guest speakers in your class with any research or library-related topic, including learning to find, evaluate, and use information in any form free, and/or library subscription resources. 

Some examples include:

  • Live (synchronous) or pre-recorded (asynchronous) session
  • In-depth class session(s)
  • Brief introduction(s) to library services and resources

Contact your liaison librarian to schedule these sessions or complete the library instruction request form.

Library Teaching Tools

Information Literacy Tutorials

Rod Library has a subscription to a set of information literacy modules. These modules cover a variety of topics and are presented in a variety of formats (videos, self-paced tutorials, etc.) with the capability of linking to your grade book. If you'd like to embed them into your course grade book, contact your liaison librarian!

Research Guides

Liaisons have created research guides on a variety of topics, subjects, and/or courses. Don't see what you need or want one specifically for your course? Contact your liaison! 

Course Reserves

Within the bounds of copyright, Rod Library can scan physical library materials or link electronic materials for an entire class to be included in your eLearning course.

Digitization

Rod Library can digitize most of the circulating material in Rod Library operating within the Copyright guidelines. Once the request is approved, the average turn around time is 24 hours for requests placed Monday-Friday.
