Formatting Your Thesis/Dissertation: Front Matter

Front Matter

The front matter of the thesis or dissertation includes all of the preliminary pages (title pages, signature pages, table of contents, etc). Pay close attention to what pages are numbered and which aren't as well as the style of page numbers. Always have your signature pages checked for formatting prior to printing and having them signed after your defense.
