Saving Your Searches and Results with EBSCO

Finding Empirical or Experimental Research with ERIC

If you need to find empirical research - articles that report an actual experiment or study - try the following technique in the ERIC (EBSCO) database:

  

  1. Type in your search.
       
  2. Check the Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals option farther down the page.
       
  3. Use the "Publication Type" option at the bottom of the search page and limit your search to the option "Reports - Research".

            

 

Finding Empirical or Experimental Research with PsycINFO

If you need to find empirical research - articles that report an actual experiment or study - try the following technique in the PsycINFO database:

  

  1. Type in your search.
       
  2. Check the Scholarly (Peer Reviewed) Journals option farther down the page.
       
  3. Use the "Methodology" option at the bottom of the search page and limit your search to the option "EMPIRICAL STUDY".
      
  4. Check the Exclude Dissertations box.

            

 

              

With PsycINFO you can even limit to the type of study e.g. QUALITATIVE STUDY, QUANTITATIVE STUDY, LONGITUDINAL STUDY, etc.
