Psychology is the study of mind and behavior. The American Psychological Association defines psychology as "the science concerned with behavior, in both human and nonhuman animals'" and notes that psychology is a diverse field: "psychologists conduct both basic and applied research, serve as consultants to communities and organizations, diagnose and treat people, and teach future psychologists and those who will pursue other disciplines." (See the American Psychological Association's Careers in Psychology website at http://www.apa.org/careers/resources/guides/careers.aspx).
