Google Books is a nice option to view parts of a book. To date, Google has scanned over 30 million books over a variety of topics which is more than Rod Library has access to. You are able to search the full text of the book in Google Books which means that it serves like an index; you can go to the specific pages that talk about your topic without reading the entire book.
