If you're looking for strategies to get you out of a searching rut, go-to repositories of secondary and primary sources, or information on how to access research articles, you've come to the right place.

How to use this guide:

  • The General Primary Sources tab houses links to a few "best bet" databases that contain primary sources across a broad range of time periods, locations, and topics.
  • The Specialized Primary Sources tab houses links to many databases and digital archives that focus on primary sources related to the topic of this class, U.S. popular culture.
  • The Secondary Sources tab links out to a guide that demonstrates strategies for researching secondary sources and collects links to "best bet" secondary sources databases in one place.
  • The Research Techniques tab links out to a guide that demonstrates advanced search strategies to help you efficiently locate primary sources in search engines and digital archives.
  • If you find an article that you want to read but UNI does not provide access to it, the Interlibrary Loan tab provides detailed instructions for how to have the article electronically delivered to you--for free.
