Welcome Beyond Google Students!

To get a jump start on the course complete the following required exercises:

    

   

Required Quiz       (and What You Must Know)

To qualify for an A in this course - you must score 30 or more points on all of the quizzes from Weeks 1-7.  You will have 10 minutes to answer 10 questions.  However, you can take the quizzes as often as you like and your highest score will be the one that is counted.

To prepare for the Quiz for Week 1 first review the units from What You Must Know for Week 1.

You should give the syllabus a good read BEFORE class.  You'll find the syllabus on nearly every page of the course website.

You will learn a lot about Google, and Google Scholar, and Google Books ...

You will learn how to use and control powerful databases such as LexisNexis, WorldCat, PubMed, and OneSearch.

You will learn a lot more about the fascinating, important, and at times scary things that are happing right now on the Internet and in the world of information.

You might even have fun.

You will almost certainly do very well.

                 

That's right ... you will almost certainly do very well in this course.

The final grade is simply based on the number of points YOU decide to earn, (see http://lgdata.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/docs/1761/1518426/Grades_Per_Week_-_How_Many_Points_You_Will_Need_for_a.pdf).

There are many, MANY options for earning points (just tour the syllabus http://guides.lib.uni.edu/beyond-google/syllabus -  or the course website http://guides.lib.uni.edu/beyond-google)

You can even finish early.  To finish early you aimply need to earn 1000 points, score at least 30 points on a Week 7 quiz, and complete the five required assignments from weeks 1, 4, 6. and 7.
