For books change the "Material Type" option from "All items" to "Books" to turn OneSearch into the library catalog and look for books owned by Rod Library. To find primary materials set your search or results ("Publication Date") to the specific years of your study. Recently published books may also contain primary source material in the form of quotes, diaries, and letters.

To access over eighty English-language primary source books related to the history of Korea between 1820 and 1925 use the following technique:

• Set the Material Type setting to Books
  
• Set the Language option to English
  
• Change the dropdown in the first Advanced Search blank to Subject
  
• Type in Korea OR Korean
  
• Click on Search
  
• After getting search results continue by clicking on the option Publication Date and set the years to the dates of interest (e.g., 1890 and 1900)

Use Advanced full-text search to search for specific keywords.

To access 380 English-language primary source books related to the history of Korea (over 100 between 1800-1899, and over 250 between 1900-1926) use the following technique:

• Choose the Advanced search option
  
• Change the dropdown in the first Advanced Search blank to Subject
  
• Type in Korea OR Korean
  
• Check the box for Full view only
  
• Set the Language option to English
  
• Set a range for the Date of Publication
• Click on the Advanced Search button
