Assessment (Internal Use Only)

Regular & Routine Activities

  • Plan, coordinate, and implement library-wide assessment projects that help make data-informed decisions, improve and enhance library resources, services, and spaces, increase the effectiveness and efficiency of internal processes, and demonstrate the impact of library resources, services, and spaces
  • Identify assessment-related resources (e.g., books, reports, articles, websites, reports, standards and guidelines, examples, trend data) and share them with library staff
  • Collect library-wide data via created forms (e.g., “Assessment - Past and Ongoing Projects” and “Annual PR Report”) and identify room for improvement
  • Collect institutional and national survey data (e.g., UNI FactBook, ACRL/IPEDS, Wintergreen Orchard House, Peterson’s Annual Survey of Undergraduate Institutions, US News Main Survey - Library Facilities) and identify room for improvement
  • Have meetings with EMT (Executive Management Team) to identify, plan and execute assessment projects and share findings
  • Have meetings with IT and library staff to identify potential assessment projects, along with existing tools (e.g., Alma/Primo Analytics with user data, EZproxy log data with Tableau, SpringShare Query Spy)
  • Explore potential IT solutions (e.g., SUMA, Denodo, OpenAthens, Veralab, PaperCut, EZ Analytics) to identify tools that would help increase productivity or get new insights
  • Have informal conversations or conduct formal consultations about library-related assessment with library staff (e.g., assessment tools for cultural competency, future directions for collecting PR data)
