Collection Impact with Call Number Ranges

Start/End Dates 5/17/22 -
Title Call Number Ranges and Their Impact (with ISU's help)
Purposes (reasons/motivation)
  • To demonstrate the impact of our collection on teaching (and research), or UNI curricular needs (and changes)
  • Also to divide up work easily and accurately among/across individual collection strategists
Goals (results/directions/questions)
  • To identify call numbers ranges that match UNI curricular needs (and changes) manually or using a computer program (most ideally)
  • To examine whether (or not) books have been actually used for targeted users, as intended. For example, as a collection strategist, I purchased a book for the math department, but I do not know if that book has been used by a patron from the math department.
Objectives (actions/steps)
  • Is it possible for us to figure out which colleges/departments a patron who has checked out a book belongs to?
